About the event

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to the retirement celebration of San Francisco State University professor, Dr. Kenneth Monteiro. This intimate gathering will be a special day to for us to gather, socialize and appreciate the experiences we have shared with Ken over these years.  For those who are able to attend in person, please join us for an evening of music, food, and story-sharing about Ken and his legacy.

Whether you can attend in person, we kindly ask that you record a 40 second video clip to toast, share an anecdote, or describe the impact he has had on your life or work.

Please email this clip along with your name and contact information to admin@iconcity.net or upload here so that we may share it at our celebration.  We would love to receive these by Tuesday, May 24, 2023 to ensure our ability to include your comments in the video for the event, but all will be shared with Ken even if they are not in the version presented to him on May 28th.

You may have known him as a family relative, personal friend, professor in your class, research or thesis advisor, chair of the Psychology Department, the University Dean of Human Relations, Dean of the College of Ethnic Studies, from his roles in the Association of Black Psychologists, American Association of Blacks in Higher Education, the California State University Council on Ethnic Studies, Black Faculty and Staff Association, advisor to your student organization or student government cohort, a faculty senator or union colleague, or all of the above. Let’s share stories.

We thank you in advance for honoring Professor Monteiro/Ken in this way! We look forward to celebrating his legacy.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at the celebration!
